Gbassay Kargbo is an adult Sierra Leonean with 5 children. Gbassay had a huge facial tumour on her left lower jaw. Gbassay was accused on several occasion of being a witch and so many people dissociate themselves from her. This condition left her so vulnerable to the point that she left the town she was staying to a place very far from civilization. Our team in Makeni rescued Gbassay and our partner org., ASI, drove her to our base in Freetown. Gbassay was admitted at the Connaught hospital to first help her regain her strength because she was unfit for any surgical procedures. Her tumour was successfully removed by Dr. Davis on May, 2023. We successfully reunited Gbassay and her children and the rest of her family. All of this is possible because of your donations. With More Donations, more will be done, and  with the dedicated support we are receiving from Africa Surgery Inc.

Adama Tarawallie visited our centre on the 5th July 2020. She is a 40 years old mother from D.S. Bangura Junction, Pamlap, Northern Region of Sierra Leone. With a large tumour on her entire lower jaw for five years, Adama suffered a lot of pain, discrimination and even had difficulty to eat. Her people considered her to be a witch, and some even speculated that nothing could be done to cure her. Adama always hid and went away from people when she ate. After a couple of days, she was referred to Dr. Davis, the only Sierra Leonean Oral Surgeon to sort for medical help. Dr. Davis could do nothing because Adama's tumour was a complex one that needed foreign expertise. Tarawallie was sent to Ghana on the 28th April 2022, where she had her surgery successfully done and returned to Sierra Leone on the 20th July 2022. She is one among many Sierra Leoneans suffering from such conditions.
